Even though it is more pleasant to give you good news rather than bad, it has been difficult lately to miss the chilling subject of the damage caused by the cold snap at the end of April... Like many others, we were indeed affected by spring frosts. ​

 

The result being almost 45% losses according to the latest estimates. Ouch! ​ The most affected plots being as usual, the plots at the bottom of the slopes, and particularly those located closest to the house (Chardonnay and Merlot). ​

 

To combat this increasingly recurring problem, last year we invested in infrared garlands which gave our vines Christmas colors during these cold April nights. 60 acres are thus protected (assessments of the results are still in progress). ​

 

And the result was convincing, since we saved 80% of the Chardonnay and 95% of the Sémillons from the Eglise de Cabanac, despite temperatures below -2.5°C.
